Fundraising Strategy

 

Why might you need a fundraising strategy?

 

Clients will often request help to raise funds for a particular project. At GIVING THE BEST, one of the first questions we would typically ask is ‘Where does this project fit within your strategic plan?’

 

Our experience shows that in order for a fundraising campaign to have any

chance of success, you must be able to convince donors that their money is going to help achieve your Charitable Objects. You will need to demonstrate how that will happen:

  • Your Purpose or Mission Statement explains what business you are in – why you exist.
  • Your Values express what’s important to the organisation and set the standards for how you work.
  • Your Vision Statement sets out what you hope to do in the next 5 to 10 years - where you are heading.
  • Your Strategic Plan explains how you intend to do all that.
  • The Fundraising Plan is part of that strategic process – it shows how you intend to pay for it all.
  • You must also have a Case for Support that answers the question ‘Why should I give my money to you?’
